The 15 minute Grace Period

Here’s my official request Blizzard: eliminate the 15 minute unkickable buff players receive when a random dungeon group forms.

Why?

Predominately, hunters.
Now, now… all you hunters don’t get all pissy on me. I know that just like Death Knight Tanks, not all of you are bad.  I’m a closet hunter, so I can feel the pain. Consider these upstanding examples of the puke green ranged dps class that I have encountered:

  • the Night Elf that continued to misdirect and pull on me in Old Kingdom (after being asked not to several times). Healer was afk, genius pulls, and the group wipes. What made it so obnoxious was he had a misdirect addon that accounced each one… ugh!
  • the Night Elf that had a level 75 gorilla named “Gorilla” in Azul Nerub casting Thunderstomp and Taunt. C’mon!  First, level new pets doing dailies! Second, don’t bring a Tenacity pet to do a Ferocity pet’s job!
  • the Dwarf (and I kid you not) that entered Violet Hold only to realize on the first pull that his gun was out of ammo…. he proceeded to melee through the instance at a whopping 0.5k dps. There are simply no words.
  • the Drainei that refused to summon a pet in Trial of the Champion (“they don’t do anything for me I’m marksmen!”)…. MMMkkkkaaaayyy… at least toss up a Trueshot Aura ya moron. Yeah, they could have bumped your 1.2 k DPS all the way close to 1.5k, chief.
  • the Dwarf that did nothing but Auto Shot and Volley attacks in Nexus. He wouldn’t cast Chimera Shot because it cost too much mana that he needed for Volley…. /sigh

The level of rampant huntardation is truly boggling — do your fellow classmates a favor and read every single guide post at the Warcraft Hunters Union. Please?

My issue is not that there are new players (or just plain bad players) and their antics can be frustrating (albiet excellent fodder for blog posts). I don’t take exception to players if they have the attitude where they are trying to improve their game. PuGs are fantastic teaching tools; you get a mix of all levels of gear, experience and classes in a random group, so something is bound to pass from player to player.

I can’t stand the attitude where a player just thumbs their nose (or worse) at you and totally ignores your requests (or suggestions). That’s when I get chafed… because “n00bcakes” chooses to be a jerk they now impact 4 other people just trying to have fun. Didn’t Momma teach ya manners? If you truly are that cool, then group with your ICC farming guild-mates, compare your wow penis size (read “Gear Score”) with each other and tradechat, and get the hell outta my instance group. Better yet, go back to junior high. Guess what? I’m not claiming the be a Tanking God. I still suck at HoR and I can’t yet clear it on Heroic mode. The Hill and the Hallway in PoS are touch and go. Sometimes, the champs in ToC wipe their rears with my cloak, and occaisonally so does the ghost of the Black Night in Phase III. But so what? I’m taking suggestions from other players in the group and I’m trying to improve (and I’m sharing those suggestions that helped me with others that request it)… And I ain’t alone.

Back to 15 minutes… Maybe it’s the knowledge that you can’t be kicked? That the players are not on your server? Or that, “it’s just a PuG”… I wish the morons could be purged quickly from a party that is otherwise out for a good time. Uh, Blizzard? We know within 2 minutes if a player is an idiot or not… please be kind and don’t subject us to an additional 780 seconds of torture. It’s just not fun.

    I feel you pain.

I think that I read something is the patch notes that they are getting rid of it.

I for one will not boot someone for a low GS. 3f Blizz put you there then you are where you are suppose to be. I will vote to kick any loser that is berating anyone for there low GS. Especially in the starter heroics.

Everyone deserves a chance and I will take a noob in greens that is trying to get better than a 5k+ GS snob.

Hey! You the guy who dropped these buffoons off at my school? Get these guys out of my junior high! Go on, shoo back to where you came from! Hm… where do I put these fools…

Hey guys… I hear there’s free epics that Kel’thuzad is giving out! Just hop on over to your friendly neighborhood Naxxramas and join the fun!

But honestly, I was almost as noobish as these guys at one point. I distinctly remember farming zul’farrak for the epic two-handed sword with… no stats, just a melee proc.
